Mosaics of Change

In some ways it is strange to have beginnings in what feels like the end of the year. To start new endeavors as the leaves are falling, to be lighting up corners of myself so brilliantly as the sun sets earlier every day. If it is that we go through seasons just like the earth, and if “as above, so below” reminds us that everything within us can be found in the mirror of our experience, then the timing of this bloom feels like a beautiful contradiction.

And yet there are many ways in which it all makes perfect sense as well. After years of steady green and stagnant summer air, hot and still with persisting status quo, it makes sense that this should be a time of bring beautiful variety and color into my life. That the winds can blow through and take anything dry and brittle, anything that does not serve me any longer, and allow me to release it. To set my senses beautifully on fire and truly sink into balance and harmony of all of my pieces.

Fall is a time of letting opposites exist in beautiful spaces. Brilliant blue skies framing the texture of warm leaves. Cool and crisp breezes sweeping through bonfire season. Refreshing whipped cream on top of the warm and earthy spices of apple or pumpkin pie (or my favorite berry pies - raspberry and triple berry people, you know what I’m talking about). I’m allowing all of my experience to integrate together and sit with integrity in all of its harmony. I am allowing all my experience, the wanted and unwanted, things that resonate with expansion and things that are lessons waiting to be learned, and sitting with them all. Appreciating that all of it is moving me forward in joy in some way or another.

So here’s to new beginnings, whenever they may find you in life. Here’s to Octobers and explosions of color, and honoring the seasons within our selves and allowing them to flow. And one foot in front of the other, here we go!
