What is “Casa de Gallo”?

Many creative and authentic people know the feeling of being the odd-one-out growing up. There are many opportunities to take things about ourselves that are unique, strange, and truly ourselves at our core and to either hide them away or let them shine. Opportunities for us to slip into comparison or hand the keys for our own happiness to someone or something else. Moriah has been a lifelong learner and advocate of embracing all of the ways to live a heart-centered, authentic life with integrity. This is reflected in her portraits of people embodying their most natural selves and in the details of her daily creative life.

Likewise, every morning the rooster goes to the top of his house and greets the morning with his song. Rain or shine, snow or thunder, he unequivocally stands tall in his knowing. He holds true for all the world to see; not for anyone else’s liking or approval, but because shining the light of your most genuine self is one of the greatest gifts you can give this life. In both her creative and professional endeavors, Moriah creates space for the human spirits she works with to step fully into the gift of themselves. There is far more that connects this beautiful mosaic of the global society than anything that would seek to divide; the most important component Moriah seeks to create is a sense of connection.

In Moriah’s journey of weaving art and the authentic self together, she has learned a variety of media to create visual art. Though she specializes in watercolor, acrylic, and digital painting, her experience as an art educator for eight years has allowed her to explore a variety of methods. Working in schools such as a Spanish Immersion elementary, an International Baccalaureate school, and a STEAM-based school of engineering and arts has allowed Moriah to examine how art can connect many cultures and interests in the shared space of creation. It is actually due to the exploration of culture and language - and a beautiful journey to a little heart-filled town in Mexico called Sayulita - that inspired the name Casa de Gallo.

Growing up in a small town in northern Minnesota and moving to the Twin Cities metro opened the parameters for understanding and exploration in Moriah’s personal journey and this exploration is reflected in her artistic collections. Her journeys have spanned continents and consciousness and each new work she creates is a reflection of the connection between the people, the places, and the lessons she has collected. Her experience in intuitive tarot reading, energy healing and reiki, and musical influence and experience shape her work and her daily adventures.
